Chevening is the UK government’s international scholarship programme. It invites future leaders to study a one-year master’s at any UK university. Azerbaijan is one of the eligible countries.
What does it cover?
- Full tuition fees
- Monthly living allowance
- Return flights to the UK
- Visa application costs and the tuberculosis (TB) test
- Arrival and additional allowances
Who can apply?
- Citizens of Azerbaijan
- Holders of a bachelor’s degree
- At least 2,800 hours (about 2 years) of work experience — full-time, part-time, volunteering and internships count
- Those who apply to 3 different eligible master’s courses in the UK and receive an unconditional offer from at least one
- Those who agree to return to Azerbaijan for at least 2 years after their studies

- Chevening online application form and 4 essays (leadership, networking, course choice, career plan)
- 2 reference letters
- Diploma and transcript
- Passport
- University offer letter (after applying, by July)
- The English requirement is set by the university
Application period
Applications usually open in early August and close in early October each year. The deadline for the 2027/28 cycle was 6 October 2026; the next (2028/29) cycle will open in summer 2027. Shortlisted candidates are invited to interviews in November–February, and results are announced in June.
