Stipendium Hungaricum is the Hungarian government’s scholarship programme for international students. Azerbaijan is a partner country, and a quota is allocated for Azerbaijani students every year.
What does it cover?
- Full tuition waiver
- Monthly stipend
- Dormitory place or housing allowance
- Health insurance
Who can apply?
- Citizens of Azerbaijan
- For bachelor’s: a secondary school certificate
- For master’s: a bachelor’s degree
- For PhD: a master’s degree
- Those who meet the programme’s language requirement (mostly English)
Required documents
- Online application form (2 programme choices)
- Motivation letter
- Diploma and transcript (with English translation)
- Language certificate
- Medical certificate (on the official form)
- Copy of passport
- For PhD: a research plan and 2 reference letters
Application period
Applications usually open in November and close in mid-January (often 15 January). The deadline for the 2027/28 academic year is expected to be 15 January 2027. Universities then hold entrance exams or interviews, and candidates are also approved by the Azerbaijani side. Results are announced in the spring.
